Intro to Acting & Filmmaking (2 Hours)
A hands-on, beginner-friendly session designed for aspiring actors and filmmakers with little to no experience.
We’ll cover warm-up exercises, camera basics, and short performance drills.
Choose your age group:

🕘 Morning Session 11:00 am: Ages 12–18
🌙 Afternoon Session 3:00 pm: Ages 21+
💰 Cost: FREE (Tip Jar encouraged)

📌 Participants aged 15–18 who wish to attend the 21+ session must provide parental consent.

📅 6-8 hours of immersive learning and creation. You’ll:

  • Warm up with acting and film exercises

  • Write a script
    Break down scenes

  • Take on real set roles (actor, director, DP, etc.)

  • Shoot the scene

  • Learn basic editing techniques

  • Present the film

Raúl Acosta

Creative Writer | Filmmaker | Self-Published Author

The Instructor

Raúl Iván Acosta is a writer and filmmaker whose work spans continents and mediums. From national TV in Lima to short films in Paris, he’s told stories through film, music, and art. His award-winning shorts earned acclaim at the 48 Hour Film Project and Filmapalooza.

Raúl has directed commercials, curated art auctions, and been active in arts education. He produced a rap series and music videos during the pandemic as a creative outlet. Later, he led emergency shooting days on Peru’s historical TV series Los Otros Libertadores.

In New York, he rediscovered his voice as a filmmaker with The Dish and Double Booked. He authored Always Be Selling, a hands-on guidebook for actors. Now based in Asheville, NC, he leads local film programs and the 48HFP competition. Raúl co-founded NewYorkStories.org and is driven by stories that move, amuse, and resonate.
